Myth: "Cold-Chain Shipping Is Essential for Peptide Quality"
Lyophilized (powder) peptides are shelf-stable at room temperature — that's the entire point of the lyophilization process. Refrigeration only becomes genuinely necessary after reconstitution, once the peptide is in liquid solution. Heavy cold-chain marketing for a powder product often signals more about a supplier's positioning than their chemistry knowledge.
Myth: "Higher Purity Always Means a Better Product"
Purity is important, but it's only one part of the picture. Net peptide content, correct molecular identity (confirmed via mass spectrometry), and batch-specific documentation all matter alongside a purity percentage. A high purity claim without supporting documentation is worth less than a slightly lower, but fully documented, figure.
Myth: "All Suppliers Test the Same Way"
Testing methodology varies significantly between suppliers. Some rely on in-house testing only, some use third-party labs for select products but not their full catalog, and some provide full HPLC and mass spectrometry documentation for every batch. These are meaningfully different standards, even if the marketing language sounds similar across suppliers.
Most peptide marketing myths persist because they sound rigorous without requiring the reader to verify anything. The antidote is the same in every case: ask for the specific documentation behind a claim, rather than accepting the claim itself.
Myth: "A Bigger Catalog Means a More Trustworthy Supplier"
Catalog size says nothing about testing consistency. A supplier with 40 products and inconsistent documentation is a bigger unknown than one with 10 products and full batch-specific COAs across the board.
Myth: "Peptides Never Degrade if Stored Correctly"
Even properly stored lyophilized peptides have a finite shelf life, and reconstituted solutions degrade considerably faster regardless of storage conditions. "Properly stored" extends stability — it doesn't make it indefinite.
